Grow a Garden Trade Calculator
Put both sides of a trade on the scale and get a win, fair or loss verdict before you accept.
Trading in Grow a Garden is the one place where nothing tells you the price. The shop will buy a crop for a number the game prints on screen, but a pet has no shop price at all, and a crop with three mutations on it has no number either โ you are expected to know. This calculator puts both sides of an offer on the same scale: 24 pets with settled trade values and 309 crops with base prices, either side of the panel, one verdict at the bottom.
It is built to answer one question โ is this offer the right shape? โ and it is deliberately honest about the limits of that answer. Reference prices are where trades cluster, not rules.
Pets are compared against pets. The 14 pets without a settled community price are not selectable โ treating an unknown as zero would make every offer containing one look like a loss.

What counts as a fair trade
The verdict comes from a single ratio, with a tolerance band either side of even. That band is the point: community prices move week to week, so a calculator that called anything under 100% a loss would flag real trades as bad ones and teach you nothing.
| Verdict | Receive รท give | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Win | 1.10x and above | Take it, unless the item is one you have no use for. Value on paper is not value to you. |
| Fair | 0.90x to 1.10x | Even. Decide on whether you want the item, not on the tenth of a percent. |
| Loss | 0.90x and below | Rebalance the offer โ add to their side, or take something off yours. |
Why crops and pets are two separate calculators
Because they are priced by two different mechanisms, and a ratio built across them would be arithmetic dressed up as information.
Crop values are set by the game.Every crop has a base sell price you can read in the shop, and the shop pays it. Mutations then multiply that fixed number, and weight scales it again. So a crop's value is anchored to something verifiable โ which is why the crop price list on this site can be exact, and why the mutation calculator can print a precise result.
Pet values are set by players. There is no NPC that buys a pet, so there is no price the game will confirm. What exists instead is a community reference โ the level where trades cluster โ which drifts with demand and with whatever the current meta rewards. It is a real number, but it is an estimate by construction, and it changes in a way a base value never does.
Putting a pet on one side and crops on the other would mean dividing an estimate by a fixed price and presenting the result to one decimal place. That is why the two markets get a mode each.

Three worked trades
Calculated live from the same pet values the calculator above reads, so you can check the tool against a known answer. Load any of these into the panels and the verdict will match.
Trading Kitsune (Tv 2,442) for Peryton (Tv 3,100) means receiving 1.27x what you give up โ comfortably clear of the 1.10x fair-band ceiling, so this is a win on paper.
Trading Peryton (Tv 3,100) for Gold Finch (Tv 3,238) means receiving 1.04x what you give up โ inside the 0.90xโ1.10x fair band, so price movement alone could flip it.
Trading Frost Dragon (Tv 2,960) for Kitsune (Tv 2,442) means receiving 0.82x what you give up โ below the 0.90x fair-band floor, so this is a loss on paper and worth pushing back on.
Trade calculator FAQ
How does the Grow a Garden trade calculator decide if a trade is fair?
It puts a number on both sides and compares them. Every line item is valued from this site's data โ pets at their community trade value, crops at base value times the mutation multipliers you attach โ and the two totals are divided. If what you receive is worth more than 110% of what you give up, the trade is a win. Below 90% it is a loss. Between those two it is fair, because community prices move and demanding an exact match would flag genuine trades as losses.
Why are crops and pets in separate modes?
Because they are separate economies and mixing them produces meaningless ratios. Pets cannot be sold to an NPC at all โ they only move player-to-player, and their value comes from ability, rarity and demand. Crops are sold to the shop for Sheckles at a price the game itself sets, then multiplied by mutation and weight. A "fair" number derived by dividing a pet value by a crop value would look precise and mean nothing.
How can pets have a value if you cannot sell them?
Because trade value is a reference price, not a shop price. It is what the community has converged on for a plain, freshly hatched pet with no mutation and no weight bonus. It moves with demand rather than with any formula the game runs. That is also why trade value is far more volatile than the crop price list: the crop numbers are set by the game and rarely change, and the pet numbers are set by players.
Why do some pets not appear in the dropdown?
Only pets with a settled community price can be selected โ 24 of the 38 pets tracked on this site. The other 14 are too new or too thinly traded for a number to mean anything, and treating an unknown as zero would make every offer containing one look like a loss. Compare those pets by ability and rarity on the pets list instead of by price.
Can I value a trade with several items on each side?
Yes. Use the add button to put more than one line on a side, and set a quantity on each. The side total is the sum of every line, so a trade where you give two pets for one is handled the same way as a single-item swap. Keep the whole trade inside one mode though โ mixing a pet into a crop-side list is exactly the comparison the two modes exist to prevent.
Does the calculator account for pet weight and mutations?
Not for pets. The pet value used here is the baseline for a plain pet at hatch, and a heavier or mutated pet trades for considerably more than that. The calculator is built to answer "which of these two pets is worth more", not "what is this specific pet worth" โ for the second question the baseline is the starting point and weight and mutations are adjustments on top.
The other player says my item is worth more. Who is right?
Both of you can be, which is the honest answer. A reference price is where trades cluster, not a rule โ an item can go for well above it when the other player needs it specifically and below it when they do not. Use the verdict as a sanity check on the shape of the offer. A loss band offer can be a fine trade if the item is one you have been hunting for weeks; a win band offer is only a win if you actually want what you are getting.
Is the trade calculator free to use?
Yes, and it needs no account. It runs entirely in your browser against data that ships with the page, so nothing is uploaded and there is no login. Change either side and both totals plus the verdict recalculate immediately.
